ICS Futures roundtable series – Roundtable 3
This roundtable will examine how the facilitation of early access to treatments and therapies will improve patient health outcomes and help tackle the health inequalities that currently exist.
Description
Roundtable 3: Prevention, early intervention, health inequalities
Chair: Matthew Swindells, Joint Chair of West London’s four Acute NHS Trusts and former Deputy Chief Executive of NHS England
Little will be gained in disease prevention without closer working between NHS and non-NHS organisations, and without greater attention paid to social determinants of health, such as housing, education, and employment. It is hoped that addressing these factors will enable ICSs to have a tangible impact upon health inequalities across the country.
This roundtable will examine how the facilitation of early access to treatments and therapies will improve patient health outcomes and help tackle the health inequalities that currently exist. Prevention, self-care and early intervention are as important to integration as the coordination of health and social care services.
